Year 6

Welcome to our class page

Staffing

The adults in class are Miss Gorasia, Mrs Whittaker, Mrs Smith, Mrs Chipeta and Mrs Walker.  The children will have Mrs Killoran too.

Uniform

Please ensure that the children have the correct uniform (with names in) - I am sure the younger children will no doubt be looking up to them as role models https://www.smrc-lit.co.uk/parent-zone/school-uniform

P.E.

Our P.E. day will be Monday (in the afternoon).

Water Bottles

Children are welcome to bring in water bottles (preferably a leak proof one) - please ensure it is marked with their name.

Equipment and Stationery

All the basic equipment will be provided by school for the children to use: pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, sharpener, glue stick, scissors, pencil crayons, felt tips, highlighter, whiteboard and pen.  Children are welcome to bring in their own equipment at their own risk and keep it in their tray.

Mobile Phones

Children are welcome to bring in mobile phones (regardless of whether they walk to and from school alone) - they need to make sure their phone is turned off when they step into the classroom and is kept in my desk drawer for safe keeping for the day.

Walking to and from School

Those who will be walking to and/or from school must complete and return the permission slip.

Homework

The children will be given written homework to complete as we prepare for SATs and for their transition to high school and will usually be around 30 minutes per day. The due date of each piece of homework will be given to the children as needed.  Children who do not complete the relevant homework will be asked to stay in during a break and/or lunchtime in order to complete it.

General Communication (and Behaviour)

All whole class communication will be via email or text.  Any individual communication will either be done face-to-face or via phone call.  Any low-level behaviour is unlikely to be communicated (unless it becomes persistent) as this is expected to be managed within the classroom using 'Good to be Green'.

Should anyone wish to speak to me, I will available before or after school near the classroom door or an email can be sent as I check emails every weekday.
